Picture Perfect Photo Auctions

If you’re like most photographers, the last few weeks of winter weather start you thinking about spring and summer – the times when nearly every photographer wants to be outdoors, shooting the next photo masterpiece. So spring is a great time to sell your existing camera gear on eBay, to fund the purchase of new equipment – or pay for the trip where those great photos will be taken.Canon Camera gear

In many cases, used camera gear can fetch more on eBay than it cost when new. That’s because professional-quality lenses and high-end cameras aren’t readily available everywhere, and eBay is a world-wide marketplace where buyers go to find the gear they just can’t get locally. So what kind of camera equipment sells on eBay?

  • Brand name professional camera bodies and lenses: Nikon, Canon, Tamron, etc.
  • Gently used digital cameras.
  • Accessories: lighting equipment, camera bags, filters, light meters, strobes, booms, stands, etc.
  • Video cameras and accessories.

For a list of the most popular searches in the cameras and photo category on eBay, check eBay’s list of top searches.

Even if the camera gear you have on hand isn’t listed in the top search list, it might still earn a surprising amount on eBay. Consumer products in this category – such as point-and-shoot digital cameras with built-in zoon lenses — can bring up to two-thirds of their original selling price.

A quick Google search for blog posts and articles about buying used camera equipment on eBay will turn up a number of tutorials from experienced eBay buyers. And the one common theme among all of them is that buyers should purchase camera gear only from a seller with a large and positive eBay feedback rating. That’s one of the reasons that many photographers who don’t sell equipment on eBay often turn to eBay consignment stores like Easysale, to turn their unwanted photo gear into cash.

An auction expert at Easysale will give sellers a pre-auction estimate, and advise sellers about the best type of eBay listing (auction, buy-it-now, or “best offer”). If the seller decides to consign their camera gear to one of the five North Texas Easysale locations, then the gear will be accurately described (using the keywords and listing techniques proven to get the highest prices), photographed, listed, sold, and shipped – and the seller gets a check in the mail for the sales price, less the percentage charged by the consignment store.

Clearing out older photo gear – and shopping for new photo gear – is a great way to get ready for spring! For more details about the consignment process, read “How it Works”.
